Tip of the Week: Recently Posted Messages

Click here for current tips on how to use the ConnectVA Community Discussion Forum (formerly the Message Board)

As you know, the new ConnectVA Message Board was launched earlier this month. We announced last week that the ConnectRichmond and ConnectSouthside email groups will turn off on June 21, 2013, and the websites will turn off on July 1, 2013. In place of the email group messages and daily digest, ConnectVA offers the Daily Update which automatically batches all upcoming posted events as well as recently posted jobs, events, items and messages from the Message Board. Readers can easily click into the full post on ConnectVA from the Daily Update.

When a ConnectVA registered user posts a message in one of the Message Board’s 5 main categories (News and Announcements, Inquiries and Advice, Grants and Funding Opportunities, Project Participation and Survey Requests, and Classifieds), the message name is automatically included in the Recently Posted Messages section of the Daily Update, which is emailed to all subscribed registered users. No need to post messages about jobs, events and items! Remember that when you add these to the ConnectVA Job Finder, Community Calendar and Item Exchange, they are automatically included in the Daily Update.

What about the ConnectRichmond and ConnectSouthside affinity email groups? We worked with the moderators of the active affinity email groups to transition them as subcategories in the new ConnectVA Message Board. They are not included in the Daily Update, but you can subscribe to these categories to receive an email notification whenever someone posts in the subscribed category. You can check out other Message Board tips and tricks here.

Quick tip: Remember you can edit your Daily Update subscription options through your ConnectVA personal profile.
