Thinking of volunteering in our community? HandsOn Great Richmond actively connects volunteers to meaningful volunteer opportunities in our community. Many of you already know HandsOn makes these connections, but did you know they’re also growing and strengthening volunteer leaders?

Growing Volunteerism & Civic Engagement in Youth:

Earlier this month, 27 high school aged youth graduated from HandsOn’s Youth Philanthropy Project, a 9-month leadership, service, and philanthropy institute, run in partnership with The Community Foundation Serving Richmond and Central Virginia. Participants granted over $13,000 to support eight youth-led community service projects.

Growing Volunteer Leaders:

HandsOn’s Volunteer Leaders program develops a group of dedicated, enthusiastic volunteers who lead projects in the community. They are currently recruiting for new Volunteer Leaders this summer. Make a difference every month by exploring a community need and leading others in service, all while learning new skills, getting access to special professional development opportunities, and interacting with fellow leaders in meet-ups and socials year round. Growing Volunteer Engagement Professionals: 

Join Greater Richmond Association for Volunteer Administrators (GRAVA) and HandsOn for the Volunteer Management: Connect, Track, Evaluation & Sustain on July 10th. As Virginia’s premier gathering of volunteer and service leaders from nonprofit, corporate, and local government sectors, this conference is an opportunity for volunteer engagement professionals to learn, connect, and be inspired through a wide range of exciting and informative workshops sessions, expert speaker, and first-hand knowledge of the latest RVA volunteerism engagement/initiatives, events, and more!

HandsOn and GRAVA have also joined forces to power a specialty forum devoted to volunteer leaders on ConnectVA. The Volunteer Engagement Message Board is a useful tool to learn, share, and connect on volunteer engagement topics, news, and resources.
