The Community Foundation Serving Richmond & Central Virginia provides stewardship for permanent endowments that enhance the lives of area citizens and is the largest of Virginia?s 27 community foundations. They work with donors to build endowment, partner with nonprofits to address needs through grantmaking, and provide leadership on important community issues.

The R.E.B. Awards for Teaching Excellence ? Nominate an outstanding teacher
The R.E.B. Awards for Teaching Excellence were established in 1988 to recognize public school teachers who have distinguished themselves by their inspiring classroom performance. This program has been developed by The Community Foundation and is funded by the R.E.B. Foundation. The R.E.B. awards are designed to identify, recognize, and support teaching excellence in the metropolitan Richmond public school systems. Grants ranging from $4,000 to $12,000 each will be given to approximately fifteen teachers to support professional development activities. Recipients will be required to share educational ideas and experiences with fellow teachers.
Nominations may be submitted by students, parents, colleagues, school personnel and administration, and the community at-large. Teachers are not permitted to self-nominate and Principals may not nominate their own teachers. The eleven-member Steering Committee will review each nomination to determine final candidates. Final candidates will be asked to submit proposals and participate in an interview describing use of the award.

The Community Foundation administers a number of endowed scholarship funds established by individuals and organizations that want to support local students continue their education beyond high school. In 2015, they will offer nearly 60 scholarship opportunities for graduating high school seniors and adult learners in the Central Virginia region. All applications must be completed and submitted via the online grants system.

UJIMA LEGACY FUND is in its third year of providing a forum for civic-minded African American men to increase our philanthropic presence and impact in the Metro Richmond community. Members contribute a minimum of $1,100 to participate in an investment pool to be awarded to one nonprofit selected through an application process. Ujima Legacy Fund seeks to support projects that will have a positive impact on youth and young adults (ages 12 to 21 years) in our region, with a particular emphasis on under-served youth populations. It is anticipated that two grants of up to $20,000 will be awarded in 2015.
Grant Priorities
Ujima Legacy Fund seeks to support 501(c)(3) nonprofits in Metro Richmond that empower youth through education related initiatives. Education related initiatives include but are not limited to: After-school/out of school time programming; Career development; College preparation; Entrepreneurship; Financial Literacy; Literacy; Mentoring; Technology training; Tutoring. Funds may also be used for capacity building efforts to strengthen nonprofits that provide these services. The grant recipient will be selected by a vote of the Ujima Legacy Fund membership, after a detailed process of reviewing the grant proposals that are received.

2015 Stettinius Awards for Nonprofit Leadership
The Community Foundation Serving Richmond and Central Virginia is pleased to announce the 2015 Stettinius Awards for Nonprofit Leadership. This awards program seeks to identify emerging leaders who have demonstrated the potential for strong transforming leadership. The Stettinius Fund for Nonprofit Leadership will award cash grants up to $10,000 to outstanding nonprofit professionals employed by recognized 501c3 nonprofit organizations that serve the greater Richmond and Tri-Cities communities. This award may be used, for example, to pursue professional development seminars, professional exchange programs and travel.
